LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

The West Is Wider Than We’ve Been Shown

A letter from founder and editor Ahsaki LaFrance-Chachere on the vision behind WESTWARD FOUR.

The West has never belonged to one story, one image or one kind of person.

It lives in the traditions passed down through generations, the families who continue to work the land, the competitors who enter the arena and the creators bringing Western culture into new spaces. It also lives in the people whose contributions have too often gone unseen.

WESTWARD FOUR was created to widen that view.

As a Diné and Black woman who has built businesses and relationships across the Western, fashion, music and rodeo industries, I have seen both the beauty of this culture and the opportunities still waiting to be created within it. I have also seen incredible people, brands and stories overlooked not because they lack value, but because they have not always had the right platform, access or connection.

This is where WESTWARD FOUR begins.

Our foundation is built upon four pillars: Culture, Commerce, Community and Connection.

We will document the people and traditions shaping the West. We will introduce the founders and brands building within it. We will create space for the communities preserving its legacy. And we will connect the right people, ideas and opportunities to help move the culture forward.

This platform is not about changing what the West has always been. It is about revealing how expansive it already is.

Here, heritage can meet innovation. A legacy maker can stand beside an emerging designer. Rodeo can share space with fashion, music, business and art. The people who have lived this culture for generations can be part of defining where it goes next.

WESTWARD FOUR will tell thoughtful stories, spotlight original voices and examine the ideas influencing the modern West. We will honor tradition while remaining curious about its future.

This is an invitation to look again to see the West beyond the familiar images and recognize the people who have always been part of its story.

There is room here for all of us.

Four pillars. One direction.

Welcome to WESTWARD FOUR.
