Ten Days in Vegas: Celebrate, but Take Care of Yourself
As we excitedly prepare for the Super Bowl of rodeo, I also want to remind everyone to take care of themselves.
The WNFR brings ten days of rodeo, fashion, shopping, celebrations and unforgettable nights but it is important to pace yourself. Hydrate, eat, rest and stay alert. Most importantly, look out for the people in your group.
We want everyone to enjoy Vegas, make beautiful memories and return home safely.
Ten days in Vegas is a marathon not one long night.
With the Thomas & Mack Center sold out for all ten rounds, thousands of rodeo fans will move between the arena, hotels, Cowboy Christmas and events throughout the city. Allow extra travel time, expect crowds and choose a meeting place in case anyone in your group gets separated.
December nights in Vegas can be cold. Bring a warm coat and dress in layers for the walks between hotels, arenas, rideshares and outdoor events. The dry desert air, alcohol, long days and miles of walking can still leave you dehydrated even when you do not feel hot.
Drink water throughout the day, eat before heading out and give yourself permission to rest. You do not have to attend everything. Pace yourself so you can fully enjoy the moments that matter most.
Stay aware of your surroundings. Watch your drink, travel with people you trust and make sure someone knows where you are going. Confirm your ride before entering a vehicle, keep your phone charged and never leave a friend behind because they “seem fine.”
And ladies, bring the beautiful boots but pack a comfortable backup pair. Vegas distances are often much farther than they appear.
This is not about taking the fun out of Vegas. It is about making sure everyone enjoys all ten days and gets home safely, with great memories and stories worth telling.
Bundle up. Hydrate. Pace yourself. Stay together. Stay aware.
The desert winter will not stop the party—but neither should it stop you from taking care of yourself and one another.
